Just me… and a single Pod Decks question that cracked open something way bigger than I expected.

In the first installment of our Third Places series, I explore one of the most unexpected places that ever felt safe, grounding, and oddly magical: the laundromat. Not because of chores—but because of what lived in the corner.

For a lot of us, third places weren’t cafes or community centers—they were the places our parents dragged us to that accidentally became sanctuaries. This episode dives into how arcades inside laundromats became a refuge, a hangout, a moment of independence, and a reminder that joy can live in the most ordinary spaces.

We talk nostalgia, childhood safety, sensory memories, and why losing places like these changed how we gather—and how we grow. This is about comfort without expectations, about showing up and just being there.

If you’ve ever found peace in a place you weren’t supposed to love… this one’s for you.
