Speaker: Rachel-Rose O'leary (Programmer at Darkfi)

In this talk, Rachel-Rose O'Leary, a programmer at Layer One blockchain DarkFi, explores the three dimensions of their work. Firstly, she discusses the thesis behind DarkFi, emphasizing the conditions necessary for the growth of privacy and anonymity technologies, providing a basis for anonymous software like Monero. Secondly, she delves into the philosophical motivations driving the effort to decouple from surveillance apparatus, emphasizing the need to transcend existing ethical paradigms. Lastly, O'Leary provides a high-level technical overview of DarkFi, highlighting its unique features, including a peer-to-peer network, a fully anonymous chat application, and a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) for collective decision-making.
