Monerotopia 2023 - El Dinero de la Gente

Speaker: Seth For Privacy (Host of Opt Out Podcast)

Privacy advocate and host of Opt Out podcast–Seth for Privacy, reflects on his experience within the Monero community over the past five years. He acknowledges the need for introspection, highlighting the challenges faced by the Monero community, including negative interactions, gatekeeping tendencies, and a lack of recognition for individuals who contribute significantly to the project.

He emphasizes the significance of building bridges with other communities, fostering openness to new ideas, and welcoming collaboration for a more comprehensive impact, discussing instances where engagement with other privacy-focused projects, such as Zcash, faced aggressive backlash within the Monero community. The talk touches upon these challenges, toxic behaviors, and the importance of balance in shaping Monero's culture to attain the goal of long-term sustainability.

The talk concludes with a call to action for community members to actively contribute, welcome new ideas, recognize and appreciate contributors, and build connections beyond the typical Monero circles for the continued growth and success of the project.
