Prior to joining Abbott, he served as medical director of the advanced heart failure, transplantation and mechanical circulatory support program at Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen, Denmark, and as a professor of cardiology at the University of Copenhagen. An internationally recognized expert in advanced heart failure, Dr. Gustafsson has authored more than 400 peer-reviewed articles.
