On To The Next One: What’s Next For Max Holloway, Conor McGregor, Paddy Pimblett After UFC 329?

Max Holloway and Conor McGregor’s rematch at UFC 329 raises just as many questions as it provided answers.

The former UFC champions met in a rematch 13 years in the making, with McGregor returning to action for the first time since 2021, but there was little satisfaction for either fighter as McGregor was forced to bow out with an apparent knee injury just 69 seconds into the contest. Holloway got the win, but didn’t get the chance to put on a bounce-back performance after his recent loss to Charles Oliveira.

And McGregor? He didn’t even get to fight and with one more bout left on his UFC contract and potentially another long layoff ahead of him, his future is murkier than ever.

On an all-new edition of On To the Next One, MMA Fighting's Mike Heck and Alexander K. Lee discuss where Holloway and McGregor can possibly go from here, with both fighters likely done for 2026. Additionally, future matchups are discussed for Paddy Pimblett, who arguably stole the show with a stunning submission of Benoit Saint Denis, plus main card winners Mario Bautista, Brandon Royval, and King Green.

We also dig into the prelims to figure out what’s next for Robert Whittaker in his light heavyweight journey, and how the UFC should build blue-chip heavyweight prospect Gable Steveson.

Plus, the fellas take your matchmaking suggestions at the end of the show.
