2-Year-Old's Spine was Severed, Mother's Ex Said It Was an Accident | Travis Thompson

When a mother left for work one May morning in Ocala, FL she thought her two-year-old daughter was in safe hands. Just 25 minutes later, she got a call from her ex, Travis Thompson, that would unravel everything she thought she knew. Jacklyn Schwingel was unresponsive—barely breathing—and nothing about the story added up. Doctors suspected abuse. The timeline didn’t make sense. And what came next would uncover something far more disturbing than anyone was prepared for.

This is the case of Jacklyn Schwingel. A child whose cries went unheard until it was too late.

If you suspect child abuse, call the Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline at 1-800-4-A-Child or 1-800-422-4453, or go to www.childhelp.org. All calls are toll-free and confidential.
The hotline is available 24/7 in more than 170 languages.
