West Virginia gets BIG TIME PICKUP out of Randy Moss Award Winning Wide Receiver!!.

“What’s good, Mountaineer Nation? It’s Mountaineer Paul, coming at you with Locked On West Virginia! We’ve g some news out of Nitro, West Virginia, as the Mountaineers just secured a commitment from 2026 wide receiver Malachi Thompson, a 6-foot-5, 200-pound playmaking machine! This kid is a game-changer and let me tell you why we’re hyped—Thompson isn’t just any recruit; he’s the reigning Randy Moss Award winner, y’all! That’s right, the award named after the legendary #RandyMoss himself, given to the top high school receiver in West Virginia. Thompson earned it with a monster junior season, hauling in 74 catches for 1,590 yards and 18 touchdowns. Can you say Moss vibes? This in-state stud picked WVU over offers from Marshall, Ohio, Temple, Toledo, and Miami (Ohio) after turning heads at the Mountaineers’ 7-on-7 tournament. His crafty route-running, soft hands, and knack for making tough catches had Coach Ryan Garrett and Rich Rodriguez ready to lock him up. Thompson’s size and smoothness make him a perfect fit for the outside receiver role, but he’s got the versatility to slide around the formation. With several senior receivers graduating after 2025, this kid’s got a clear path to early playing time in the #Big12. Landing Thompson is huge for WVU—not just because he’s one of the best in the state, but because keeping elite in-state talent home is how you build a program. After some recent recruiting misses, this is a statement win for the Mountaineers. And let’s talk about that Randy Moss Award again—Thompson’s out here channeling the same explosive energy as the Hall of Famer from right here in West Virginia. That’s the kind of legacy we’re building in Morgantown! So, Mountaineer Nation, get ready to watch Malachi Thompson light up Milan Puskar Stadium in 2026. Drop your thoughts on this commitment in the comments, and let’s keep the gold and blue pride loud!
