Coastal Carolina’s Coach MOCKS the “WVU Is Back” Hype!

Coastal Carolina head coach Ryan Beard had plenty to say about West Virginia ahead of Saturday’s season opener—and his sarcastic delivery was impossible to miss. Beard repeatedly referenced the belief that “West Virginia is back,” joked that WVU is expected to become an unstoppable machine and “run the score up,” and claimed he hasn’t seen anything suggesting Coastal Carolina is even part of the matchup. Was Beard disrespecting WVU, manufacturing an underdog mentality for his new team—or attempting to place all the pressure on Rich Rodriguez and the Mountaineers? Mountaineer Paul breaks down Beard’s comments, his refusal to reveal Coastal Carolina’s starting quarterback, the challenge presented by Zac Alley’s defense and what Beard accidentally revealed about his concerns over Michael Hawkins Jr., Cam Cook, Amari Latimer, WVU’s running game and the atmosphere inside Milan Puskar Stadium. Coach Beard mocked the hype. Now West Virginia gets an opportunity to prove it on the field.
