Detroit Tigers face tough questions as Spencer Torkelson’s uneven 2026 puts his future in focus. Can the former No. 1 pick become more than a bottom-half MLB first baseman, or are the Tigers destined to ride out his streaky power and defensive limitations until a true upgrade emerges?

Host Scott Bentley dissects Torkelson’s puzzling blend of high strikeout rates, improved walk rates, and fastball dominance—raising doubts about his long-term role in Detroit’s lineup. The conversation explores first base options in free agency, trade realities, and the steady progress of prospect Briseño. Plus, Tyler Holton’s 2.75 ERA and ground-ball mastery as a multi-inning bullpen weapon gets spotlighted, alongside candid talk about where the Tigers must add velocity and strikeout potential. Is a reshaped bullpen and lineup hierarchy the key to Detroit’s next step?
