Joe Mixon's Retirement EXPOSES the Texans Biggest Mistake of the Last Decade + Battles on the Field!

Joe Mixon's retirement marks the end of his NFL career, but it also shines a spotlight on a problem the Houston Texans have been unable to solve for nearly a decade. In today's Locked On Texans Podcast, we break down why Mixon's departure is bigger than one player. Since Lamar Miller, Houston has cycled through seven different leading rushers while consistently undervaluing one of the NFL's most important offensive positions. From passing on Jonathan Taylor in the 2020 NFL Draft to relying on stopgap veterans like David Johnson and Rex Burkhead, the Texans' lack of investment at running back has become one of the franchise's longest-running issues. We also dive into the most exciting matchups on the Texans' 2026 schedule, including: Joe Burrow vs. DeMeco Ryans' defense in one of the season's biggest quarterback battles. Texans CBs vs. the Dallas Cowboys' explosive receiving corps. Why Calen Bullock, Tytus Howard and Azeez Al-Shaair could play pivotal roles in marquee games. And why Houston should monitor Marvin Harrison Jr. if the Cardinals ever consider moving the former Ohio State star and C.J. Stroud teammate. If you're a diehard Texans fan or just looking for honest NFL analysis, this episode covers the past, present and future of Houston football.
