SETBACK: Oklahoma Offense NOT IMPROVED - Letting Down Sooners defense | Retention Season?

Oklahoma Sooners’ struggling offense puts bowl hopes in jeopardy. Can John Mateer and Ben Arbuckle spark a late-season turnaround before the transfer portal frenzy begins?

John Williams breaks down why Oklahoma’s offense, ranked near the bottom nationally, continues to falter despite flashes of individual talent from linemen Noah Best and Michael Fasusi, as well as emerging playmakers like Manny Choice. Key discussion points include poor red zone conversions, a lack of offensive balance, and critical turnovers against Kentucky’s weak defense. Williams explores retention season challenges, the importance of keeping foundational players in Norman, and why the defensive unit—anchored by Jayden Jackson and David Stone—remains a strength under Brent Venables’ leadership. Upcoming tests against Mississippi State and South Carolina could determine if the Sooners regain momentum and pride heading toward 2027.

Will the offense finally match the defense’s intensity and fight, or are bigger changes looming for Oklahoma football?
