What went wrong in the Detroit Red Wings '24-'25 season?

The Detroit Red Wings finished with 5 fewer points than the season prior, what went wrong? Free agent signings continue to be Yzerman's achilles heel as offense walked out the door in the offseason, and new player Gustafsson and Tarasenko brought no where near the level of play expected. The PK was also worst in the league and that will hurt. And finally, holding onto Derek Lalonde for too long. #LGRW
