GROWTH: Jaycee Horn’s Rise PUSHES Carolina Panthers Defense to the Next Level

The Carolina Panthers gamble on Jaycee Horn pays off—has he finally joined the NFL’s elite corners? Julian Council breaks down Horn’s journey from injury-plagued prospect to Pro Bowl anchor, scrutinizing his stats, Pro Football Focus grades, and the impact of his new training regimen. With Pat Surtain looming as a constant comparison and Horn’s late-season absences still raising questions, the debate intensifies: Is Horn now the shutdown corner Panthers fans hoped for?

Attention turns to the Panthers’ cornerback room ahead of training camp. Will Mike Jackson finally get the contract he deserves after a standout season and top PFF marks? Who emerges as the starting nickel: Corey Thornton, Chau Smith-Wade, fourth-rounder Will Lee, or sleeper Devonta Smith? Julian Council maps out the roster battles, depth concerns, and the implications for Carolina’s secondary as the team prepares for the 2026 NFL season.
