ORIOLES POSTCAST: Baltimore Orioles Waste Shane Baz’s 10 Ks, Fall 3-1 to New York Yankees

The Orioles wasted another electric Shane Baz performance in a painful 3-1 loss to the Yankees at Camden Yards. Baz punched out a season-high 10 Yankees and generated 16 swings and misses, but Baltimore once again gave him virtually no support. His only earned run came on a hanging third-inning changeup that Trent Grisham crushed for a solo homer. Then, after Baz exited, Josh Walker walked Paul Goldschmidt with two outs to load the bases before Grisham delivered the decisive two-run single. Coby Mayo supplied Baltimore’s only offense with a solo home run off Carlos Rodón—but the bigger story is the missed opportunity. The Orioles went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position, failed to cash in chances all night, and dropped out of the final AL Wild Card spot after Game 126. Luke Slabaugh reacts to the Orioles’ frustrating Yankees loss, Shane Baz being let down again, the bullpen breakdown, Coby Mayo’s homer, and what this crushing defeat means for Baltimore’s playoff chase.
