ORIOLES POSTCAST: Baltimore Orioles HUMILIATED in New York Yankees Sweep? O’s Go 0-for-4 RISP, Drop 4th Straight
The Orioles got swept at home by the Yankees, falling 6-1 on Thursday, and it felt every bit as ugly as the score suggests. Baltimore is now six games under .500 and continuing to slide in the AL Wild Card race. The Yankees came into Camden Yards as the clearly superior club, with elite pitching and a lineup that made every Orioles mistake hurt. The defining stat: the O’s went 0-for-16 with runners in scoring position across this three-game series. Dylan Beavers provided the only offense with a solo homer off Gerrit Cole, but Baltimore could not manufacture anything else when opportunities arrived. And then there was the third inning. Kyle Bradish induced a ground ball from José Caballero after allowing two singles, but Gunnar Henderson could not catch the feed from Jackson Holliday. Everybody was safe. Ben Rice followed with an RBI single, Heliot Ramos doubled off the right-field wall, and suddenly the Orioles were down 3-0. Luis García Jr. and Spencer Jones later added solo shots to chase Bradish. Another frustrating night. Another game where the Orioles failed to make routine plays, failed to cash in, and failed to look like a team built to contend. Luke Slabaugh reacts to the Yankees’ sweep, the Orioles’ offensive collapse, the costly defensive breakdowns, Kyle Bradish’s outing, Dylan Beavers’ homer, and the big question facing Birdland: is this humiliation ... or has pain turned into apathy?
