Knicks-Spurs is the NBA Finals Matchup We Didn't Know We Needed

The NBA Finals are set: New York Knicks vs. San Antonio Spurs. It’s the Finals matchup few predicted, but it might be the one the league needed. Wes Goldberg, Matt Moore and Haize break down what makes Knicks-Spurs so fascinating, from New York’s first NBA Finals appearance since 1999 to Victor Wembanyama leading San Antonio back to prominence. Is this the start of Wemby’s championship era, or the Knicks’ long-awaited return to the top of the NBA? Then, the crew looks at how both teams got here. Were the Knicks just historically hot, or have they become a real championship formula behind Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, OG Anunoby, Mikal Bridges and Josh Hart? Did the Spurs survive the tougher path behind Wemby, De’Aaron Fox, Dylan Harper, Stephon Castle and their depth? Finally, it’s Play On or Blow the Whistle, with Finals debates about crunch-time stars, homecourt advantage, sustainable shooting, Spurs youth and whether Brunson can be the No. 1 option on a championship team.
