SURPRISE?: Washington Nationals DFA Jose Tena As Paul Toboni Makes BIG Changes In One Full Year

Washington Nationals shake up their 40-man roster, designating Jose Tena for assignment and bidding farewell to Mitchell Parker, now claimed by the Atlanta Braves as he faces Tommy John surgery. Are the Nationals signaling a dramatic new direction under Paul Toboni's front office leadership? Ryan Clary breaks down key roster moves, including the fates of Jorbit Vivas and other notable players. The conversation focused on the Nationals’ aggressive turnover—only 18 of the 44 players from last year remain—highlighting a shift toward analytics, defensive value, and revitalized team identity. A key theme that emerged was the looming MLB lockout, with questions swirling about the future of the 40-man roster, potential salary cap changes, and what these seismic shifts mean for the Nationals’ path back to contention. Will this bold strategy pay off?
