ROUGH: Texas Basketball Gets CRUSHED by St. John's in Final Scrimmage Before Season | Texas Hoops

Texas Longhorns struggle in exhibition loss to St. John’s, raising early questions about team chemistry and defense. The 7th-ranked Longhorns fell 87-74 at Madison Square Garden, with Isaiah Johnson leading Texas in scoring but the team plagued by 16 turnovers, poor free-throw shooting, and defensive lapses against Rick Pitino’s Red Storm. Can this young roster, featuring 10 underclassmen and just one key returning contributor, bounce back in time for SEC play? Brad Kellner breaks down the game’s bright spots—including Marcus Spears Jr.’s promising athleticism and David Punch’s effort on the boards—while addressing areas for improvement like interior defense and finishing possessions with rebounds. The conversation focused on lineup uncertainties without Mikey Lewis, the challenges of integrating 11 newcomers, and the physical demands facing the Longhorns this season. With the regular season opener against Chicago State just eight days away, how quickly can Texas iron out its issues and live up to top-10 expectations? Thanks for tuning in!
