Instant Reaction: Quincy Porter Out for Season, CJ Carr’s Protection & Defensive Growth

Tyler Wojciak, host of Locked On Irish, reacts to everything Marcus Freeman had to say during his Monday press conference following Notre Dame’s win over Purdue. Tyler starts with the unfortunate news that transfer wide receiver Quincy Porter will miss the remainder of the 2026 season after suffering a setback that will require surgery, then breaks down Freeman’s comments on the continued improvement of Notre Dame’s running game and Jonaz Walton’s growing role. He also dives into Joey O’Brien earning the coaching staff’s trust, Luke Talich’s expected return against North Carolina, CJ Carr’s impressive ability to diagnose pressure and help Notre Dame avoid negative plays, Freeman’s increased confidence in the offense on fourth down, and how Chris Ash’s coverage and defensive front are working together to create opportunities for the Irish pass rush.
