Florida Gators Recruiting Momentum BUILDING Into Fall Camp! Jon Sumrall's 2028 Class

Florida Gators set their sights on a recruiting resurgence, targeting Hudson West as the potential cornerstone quarterback for the 2028 class. Can Jon Sumrall’s staff identify the next breakout star despite West’s current three-star ranking and unconventional style? The conversation focused on how Florida’s staff values traits and upside over early rankings, especially for key positions like quarterback and defensive back. A key theme that emerged was the pursuit of elite athleticism in the secondary, spotlighting defensive backs Cyion Smith and Dominick Harris-Payne—both long, rangy prospects drawing offers from Florida, Miami, and others. The discussion explored Tyree Mannings Jr.’s recruitment battle, with teams like Auburn and Miami in the mix, and raised critical questions about Buster Faulkner’s offensive philosophy under Sumrall. Will the Gators’ evolving strategy and emphasis on explosive, versatile talent signal a new era for Florida football recruiting?
