Florida Gators NEED Jadan Baugh, Pass-Rush to Come ALIVE for Season Success

Brandon Olsen goes solo to break down what the 45-17 loss in Columbia actually revealed about the Florida Gators — and what Jon Sumrall has to fix before South Carolina comes to Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. 1. The run game disappeared. Jadan Baugh entered Saturday as the nation's No. 2 rusher with 600 yards and 11 touchdowns and a legitimate Heisman case. Missouri held him to 13 yards on 12 carries. Florida's backs combined for 30 yards on 13 attempts — 1.7 per carry — a week after the Gators ran for 302 in the upset of Ole Miss. Sumrall called it the most exposed the offensive line has looked all season. Is this a Missouri front-seven problem or a Florida offensive line problem, and how does an offense built around one back survive when that back gets bottled up? 2. There was no pressure on the quarterback. Austin Simmons went 23-for-30 for 340 yards and two scores and was barely bothered. Missouri hit 560 total yards, 220 of it on the ground, and gained 235 yards on four plays. Brad White's front isn't generating heat with four, and the young secondary can't survive without it. We get into where the rush is supposed to come from and whether the answer is personnel or scheme. 3. The penalties aren't a blip anymore. Eight flags for 80 yards against Missouri — the third straight game Florida has been penalized at least eight times. Sumrall said afterward he couldn't pin the problem to one thing. We talk about what undisciplined football actually costs you once the schedule stops cooperating, and why the September version of this team got away with it. Plus: Baugh texting Sumrall on Sunday to apologize, what that says about this locker room, Sumrall saying he was "livid" postgame, and whether a 4-1 Florida team is still a playoff team or whether Columbia was the honest answer.
