BREAKDOWN: How ISU Will DOMINATE Big 12 Without Milan Momcilovic, TJ Otzelberger Has Cyclones READY

Iowa State Cyclones face a pivotal season as Coach T.J. Otzelberger's signature defense remains elite, but the offense looks to regroup after losing Milan Momcilovic and Joshua Jefferson—both 16-point scorers. Can Tamin Lipsey step up as the Cyclones’ offensive engine, or will transfers like Ryan Prather and Jaquan Johnson fill the scoring gap? Key injuries, including Killyan Toure’s shoulder, add extra uncertainty as the team prepares for a tough non-conference slate, highlighted by clashes with Memphis and the always-tense rivalry against Iowa. The conversation focused on starting lineup predictions, X-factor players, and the program’s remarkable consistency under Otzelberger, who’s seeking to rewrite Iowa State’s postseason history. Standout storylines include development from Dom Pleta, the deep guard rotation, and the challenge of navigating brutal Big 12 stretches against Houston and Texas Tech. Is a second weekend NCAA Tournament appearance—maybe even an Elite 8 run—within reach for the Cyclones?
