The No. 4 Miami Hurricanes marched into Death Valley and delivered a statement, defeating the Clemson Tigers 41-13 to improve to 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the ACC. Miami led 17-6 at halftime before finishing the night with a 17-point fourth quarter. The Hurricanes scored touchdowns on the ground, through the air and on defense—capped by J.J. Dunnigan’s 39-yard pick-six with 1:49 remaining. Darian Mensah completed 18 of 27 passes for 227 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions while adding a spectacular 34-yard rushing touchdown. Mark Fletcher Jr. returned to the lineup and delivered 77 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Freshman Javian Mallory added 63 yards, while Cooper Barkate led Miami’s receivers with five catches for 98 yards and a 61-yard touchdown. The biggest sequence came with Miami leading 17-6. After Clemson reached the Miami 18, Chase Smith made consecutive stops on third-and-two and fourth-and-two. The Hurricanes responded with a punishing 14-play, 83-yard touchdown drive that consumed 7:58 and changed the game. Miami’s defense recorded six sacks, held Clemson to 55 rushing yards and forced two turnovers. Ahmad Moten Sr. forced a fumble recovered by Herbert Scroggins III, and Dunnigan supplied the defensive touchdown GRIES had been demanding all season.
