POWER RANKINGS: BYU and Utah BOTH Soar, West Virginia Surges, Texas Tech Way Up, Arizona State?

The Big 12 just delivered a statement-making weekend across the college football landscape, emphatically reminding the national media that its depth and physical brand of football can go toe-to-toe with anyone in the country.

It all started out west, where BYU marched into a hostile environment in Fort Collins and physically dismantled Colorado State 41-23. Kalani Sitake's squad controlled both lines of scrimmage from the opening whistle, suffocating the Rams and proving their early-season trajectory is built for the long haul. Meanwhile, Utah continued to flex its collective muscle, executing with ruthless efficiency and showcasing why the Utes remain an absolute nightmare for any opponent trying to match their toughness in the trenches.

Down in the Southeast, West Virginia took over Bank of America Stadium for the Duke’s Mayo Classic and put on a clinic against a ranked Virginia squad. Behind Michael Hawkins Jr.’s dual-threat brilliance and a relentless defensive front, the Mountaineers punched out a 38-27 victory that echoed far beyond the Carolinas and showcased the undeniable grit of Morgantown football.

Week after week, Big 12 programs are forced to run a brutal gauntlet against each other, yet they still manage to step outside the conference and punch traditional brand names right in the mouth. While national talking heads trip over themselves manufacturing excuses for coastal elites, teams from coast to coast are proving that the conference's depth is unmatched. This isn't about sneaking into the conversation anymore; it's about forcing the door wide open. When programs across the board execute with this level of physical resilience, the entire college football landscape is officially on notice.
