Expert Is Left STUNNED By What BYU Did To Iowa State... and It's NOT Why You Think

Any doubts about how No. 8 BYU would respond after limping through their physical war of attrition against TCU were emphatically answered under the Friday night lights at LaVell Edwards Stadium. Kalani Sitake’s squad put together a dominant 24-10 statement win over Iowa State, proving that their developmental depth and systemic toughness are built to handle the grueling grind of the Big 12.

After scuffling offensively last week, the Cougars' machinery clicked into high gear. Quarterback Bear Bachmeier played a masterclass game, carving up the Cyclones' defense by lighting up the scoreboard with 329 passing yards and two touchdowns while adding 39 tough yards on the ground. With the offensive line establishing total control in the trenches, BYU outgained Iowa State 506 to 200 in total yardage, effectively silencing any lingering concerns about personnel drop-offs. Playmakers like Legend Glasker and Roger Saleapaga stepped into expanded roles seamlessly, exploiting holes downfield and ensuring the offense didn't miss a beat.

Defensively, the Cougars continued to play with the suffocating intensity that defines their identity. They slammed the door on any Cyclone momentum, pitching a masterclass in containment and collapsing the pocket when it mattered most.

This wasn’t just another regular-season victory; it was a firm declaration. Battered by injuries but refusing to break, BYU flexed its muscle on national television, reinforcing why the Big 12 meat grinder respects teams that win in the trenches. With a massive prime-time showdown against Notre Dame looming, the Cougars look battle-tested, sharp, and fully ready for the national stage.
