Drake Joins ESPN 960 for FULL Utah, BYU Analysis and Big 12 Update

The Holy War, the fierce rivalry between BYU and Utah, is one of college football’s most intense and competitive matchups. This historic clash, rooted in geographic proximity and cultural differences, consistently delivers hard-fought, high-stakes games that captivate fans in Utah and beyond. With both programs known for their strong football traditions and passionate fanbases, the rivalry transcends the field, symbolizing a clash of identity and pride. Games between BYU and Utah are rarely straightforward; they’re typically marked by dramatic comebacks, unexpected turns, and narrow finishes. Historically, many of these contests have been decided by a single score, showcasing how evenly matched these teams often are. Whether it’s a last-second field goal, a game-sealing defensive stand, or a gutsy two-minute drill, the Holy War is synonymous with high drama. Fans from both sides enter each game knowing that records and rankings mean little when the rivalry kicks off; it’s about heart, execution, and who can withstand the pressure of the moment. The competition is fueled by the distinct identities of each program. BYU, with its ties to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, embodies a national, faith-based following, while Utah’s secular approach and emergence as a Pac-12 power represent a different slice of the state’s culture. These differences add layers to the rivalry, giving it a unique edge and emotional charge that few other college football matchups can match. The coaching staff and players on both sides understand the weight of the game, often expressing that a win in the Holy War can define a season. The stakes are high, not just for conference standings or bowl eligibility, but for the pride of an entire fanbase. For the teams, every yard, every play, and every point carries immense significance, which makes the Holy War one of college football’s most competitive and unforgettable rivalries.
