BYU Is Begging Big 12 to Answer THIS Question, League STILL Suing Texas Tech? | Big 12 Media Days

At the 2026 Big 12 Media Days in Frisco, Commissioner Brett Yormark is expected to face intense scrutiny, with Texas Tech positioned as the "elephant in the room." While Yormark typically uses his state-of-the-conference address to highlight the league’s growth and future-looking successes, the fallout from the Brendan Sorsby controversy will undoubtedly dominate the discourse.

Sorsby, the former Texas Tech quarterback, became the center of a conference-wide saga after being accused of impermissible betting violations. The ensuing legal battles—which eventually saw the Big 12 file a federal lawsuit—have created a significant rift between Lubbock and the rest of the conference. You can expect Yormark to be pressed on how he plans to repair the strained relationships between Texas Tech and fellow member institutions, especially following pointed comments from administrators like Iowa State’s Jamie Pollard, who suggested that Texas Tech should be held financially accountable for the reputational and legal damage caused by the affair.

For Yormark, the challenge will be twofold: maintaining a professional front regarding ongoing legal matters while projecting a sense of unity to media partners and the public. Despite the "zero tolerance" brand of leadership he has cultivated, he will need to navigate questions about whether the conference can truly move forward or if the trust between the league office and the Red Raiders has been irreparably damaged. As Texas Tech is scheduled to appear on the first day of Media Days alongside other conference members, the pressure will be on Yormark to address these issues head-on before the situation overshadows the actual football narratives of the 2026 season.
