BYU, Colorado WILL Play in Big 12 Football Title Game, Leave Boise State from College Football Playoff

The road to the Big 12 Championship is wide open for teams like BYU, Colorado, and Iowa State, thanks to the league's competitive balance and unpredictable nature. Each of these programs has the potential to rise to the top and secure a spot in the title game, especially in the expanded, deeper conference landscape. BYU As a newcomer to the Big 12, BYU brings a tradition of disciplined, high-quality football. With a reputation for strong quarterback play and a physical approach, the Cougars are well-equipped to compete. BYU’s ability to perform in hostile environments and its experience as an independent program with a tough schedule are assets in navigating the Big 12’s parity. To make the championship game, BYU needs to capitalize on its home-field advantage at LaVell Edwards Stadium and win key games against top-tier opponents. Strong non-conference performances and limiting mistakes in close matchups will also be critical. Colorado Under Deion Sanders, Colorado has quickly become a team to watch. Sanders’ ability to attract top talent through the transfer portal and energize the program makes the Buffaloes a wild card in the Big 12. Their high-paced, dynamic style fits the league’s culture, and with strong recruiting classes, Colorado is building for sustainable success. To reach the championship, Colorado must maintain consistency against league powerhouses and avoid letdowns against mid-tier teams. Iowa State Under Matt Campbell, Iowa State has established itself as a gritty, resilient program capable of punching above its weight. The Cyclones thrive in defensive battles and rely on disciplined execution to upset bigger-name programs. For Iowa State to make the title game, they’ll need to rekindle the magic of their 2020 run, leaning on home-field advantage at Jack Trice Stadium and excelling in high-pressure matchups. In the chaotic Big 12, any of these teams could find themselves in Arlington, Texas, playing for the championship. For your next listen, check out the Locked On College Football podcast !
