The album is cinematic, emotive, trip hop - with elements of dub, hip hop, soul, and downtempo electronic woven into its fabric. Mostly composed of instrumental movements that are made for a personal journey inwards - “Common Understanding” is equally melancholy and yearning as it is driven - depending on your own lens, the duality of the music can be used to connect to emotions of loss, or uplift the spirit in idealism, fantasy, and hope through its rhythms. The album's tapestry is made from the horn sections by Genevieve Kuner, Marley Del Prete, and Dermot O'Brien, the keys of Louis Monaghan and Joe Swann, bass and guitar by Gabriel Keam and Luke Barry, vocals from Melody Kin and Margo Mann, harp by Siwei Wong, and drums, percussion, arrangement, and sampling by Joe Swann keeping the album in orbit. Produced and composed by Joe Swann - recorded at his home and overdubbed sections at the grove studio with Nick Herrera. Co mixed by Joe Swann, Nick Herrera, and Jack Prest.
