Winter Fuel Payment 2026 Guide | Leicester News

Winter Fuel Payment is back for the cold season — if you’re 66 or older (born by June 27, 1960) and live in England, Wales, or Northern Ireland, you likely qualify. But there are exclusions: hospital stays, visa restrictions, or jail time during the qualifying week in September 2026 can disqualify you. Care home residents still get it — unless they’ve been receiving certain benefits since late June 2026. Payments will be sent via letter in October/November, based on your age and circumstances that week. No impact on other benefits. Apply by Sept 21, 2026 — don’t wait!
