UK Cities Gain 55 Football Fields of Green Space

The UKs top forty cities have seen a significant increase in green spaces, adding a net gain of 390,000 square meters between 2023 and 2024. This makes the UK the top European country for urban green space growth. The Husqvarna Urban Green Space Insights Report, using AI and satellite data, highlights Reading as the greenest city with a score of 72, while Blackpool is the least green with a score of 24. Sunderland and Newcastle had the biggest increases, while Leeds and Coventry saw the largest decreases. The UKs urban green space coverage is 44%, slightly below Europes average, but nearly half of its urban areas are covered in vegetation. Trees are valued more than grass due to their environmental benefits. DNN | The Daily News Now! The world’s first global local news network. Every city. Every story. AI powered. Hosted on Acast.
