Teen's Blood Cancer Treatment Success Offers Hope
A Leicester teenager, Alyssa Tapley, became the first person to receive a groundbreaking blood cancer treatment, BE-CAR7, in 2022. Diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of leukemia at 13, standard treatments failed. Alyssa, now 16, chose to participate in the research, hoping it would help others. The treatment, an advanced form of immunotherapy, has shown great promise, with nearly two-thirds of patients in a clinical trial now disease-free. Alyssas experience offers hope for a better prognosis for those diagnosed with this rare blood cancer. DNN | The Daily News Now! The world’s first global local news network. Every city. Every story.
