Student's Depression Leads to Police Encounter
20-year-old De Montfort University student, Reshan Kajathas, faced court after a high-speed chase with police, resulting in an officers injury and the use of pepper spray. Kajathas was driving his girlfriends car without insurance and resisted arrest. Inside the car, police found banned nitrous oxide. Kajathas pleaded guilty to driving without insurance, possessing class C drugs, and resisting arrest. His defense attorney revealed that Kajathas used the drug to cope with severe depression. He was fined, ordered to pay court costs and compensation, received points on his license, and may face university action. DNN | The Daily News Now! The world’s first global local news network.
