Son Sentenced for Mother's Murder
Daniel Cook, a 39-year-old man with schizophrenia, was sentenced to at least 21 years in prison for the brutal murder of his 72-year-old mother, Ellen Cook. The attack, which involved stabbing Ellen more than 30 times, began in their home and continued into the street. Cook believed his mother was a witch and that she didnt want him living with her. Despite attempts to stop him, Cook continued the attack, even after being tasered by police. The judge ordered a hybrid sentence, with Cook initially remaining in a hospital until medically fit for prison. DNN | The Daily News Now! The world’s first global local news network. Every city.
