Paedophile's Death in Prison: Investigation Launched

John Saterlay, an 80-year-old convicted paedophile, died in HMP Fosse Way while serving a ten-year sentence. He was jailed in 2017 for sexually abusing two young girls. Saterlay, a retired engineer and businessman, admitted to six sexual assaults and one offense of sexual activity in the presence of a child. He began abusing his victims when he was 65, during his wifes cancer battle. The judge noted the profound impact on his victims, with one stating she had lost her innocence. Saterlay was ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life and was given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order. The Prisons and Probation Ombudsman has launched an investigation into his death.
