New Aurora Trains: A Greener Future for Midlands Rail

Next year, the East Midlands region will welcome a new fleet of Class eight-ten Aurora trains, a £400 million investment replacing the current Class two-twenty-two Meridian fleet. These bi-mode trains, capable of switching between diesel and electric power, will significantly improve efficiency and reduce carbon emissions by 66% on Sheffield to London journeys.
