Nepalese Footballer Asmita Ale: History Maker & Family Pride

Asmita Ale, a Nepalese-origin defender for Leicester City, is making history as the first footballer of her background to sign a professional contract in England. Her journey is deeply rooted in her familys remarkable background, particularly her father, Amrit, a former Gurkha soldier who served nearly two decades in the British Army and was a gifted squash player. Asmita joined Aston Villa at eight and signed her first professional contract in 2019. She joined Leicester City permanently in 2024 and has started every Womens Super League game this season. Despite Leicester City being ninth, Asmita feels she has a bigger role this season and her family remains her biggest supporters. DNN | The Daily News Now!
