Melton Borough Council Introduces Weekly Food Waste Collections

Melton Borough Council in Leicestershire is set to introduce weekly food waste collections in autumn 2026, reducing black bin size to boost recycling and save money. The council aims to reach a national recycling target of 65% from the current 43%. New, smaller 180-liter bins will be provided to new homes, while existing households will keep their larger bins until replacement is needed. A booking system for clinical waste and reduced waste sacks for communal properties are also planned, expected to save over £10,000 annually. DNN | The Daily News Now!
