Market Harborough Residents Push for New Town Council

Market Harborough residents rally for new town council amidst council reorganization. A petition signed by over 1,600 locals urges the creation of an independent body to maintain local decision-making power and influence over community spending. The governments planned reorganization could absorb the current district council into a larger authority, potentially making Market Harborough more remote from decision-makers. A new council could take on responsibility for local assets and events. The Harborough District Council leader supports the proposal, and a review process will begin if a valid petition is submitted.
