Leicestershire July Fortnight Stays | Leicester News

Leicestershire’s cherished July fortnight summer break is staying put, delighting families who love the early start to holidays—thanks to a tradition dating back to 1965. While the council considered extending October half-term to two weeks, feedback from parents and leaders led them to keep it at one week, just moved up to the third week of October. The July break remains unchanged, ensuring kids and families can still enjoy that head start on summer adventures like Skegness—proving this beloved local custom is here to stay.
