Hampshire Surge Ahead Against Leicestershire | Leicester News

Hampshire’s batting firepower, led by Nick Gubbins’ stunning 124 not out, has them in control after day two with a commanding 225-run lead over bottom-of-the-table Leicestershire. Gubbins’ century — his first since April — capped a thrilling century stand with opener Harry Brook, the first for Hampshire since July last year. Leicestershire, despite half-centuries from Hamza Shaikh and Tom Scriven, collapsed to 244, while Kyle Abbott’s four wickets kept Hampshire firmly on track. With relegation looming for both sides, this match could be pivotal — especially for Leicestershire, who need a win against Warwickshire to stay alive. Hampshire are now firmly in the driver’s seat heading into day three.
