Community Center Becomes Special Needs School
Former Hinckley Community Center to Become Special Needs School: Addressing Educational ShortageA former community center in Hinckley is set to reopen as a special educational needs school, providing much-needed places for up to seventy-five children. The Westfield Community Centre, originally built in the 1930s as a school, will return to its educational roots after being put up for sale due to funding difficulties. The new school, operated by the Hopedale Group, will offer calm, consistent, and expert environments for children with autism, communication, social, and emotional needs. The decision aims to address the significant shortage of specialist school provisions, with hundreds of children currently on waiting lists. The building will be modernized, and some community activities may still be able to use the site outside of school hours. A one-way system for drop-offs and pick-ups will be implemented to minimize traffic impact on Rosemary Way. DNN | The Daily News Now! The world’s first global local news network. Every city.
