Pierre Gasly was publicly backed before Red Bull dropped him and Alex Albon was suddenly being asked to “retain” a seat he already had. Nyck de Vries had Daniel Ricciardo waiting in the wings...as you can tell, Red Bull gave me plenty of material!

Suffice to say, drivers have to focus not only on their own performance...but who is readily available within the wider Formula One space.
