That Football Show 9/16: Chiefs Embarass Broncos on MNF in Patrick Mahomes' Return

Matt Verderame and Tucker Franklin break down an absolute beatdown as the Kansas City Chiefs blew out their division rival Denver Broncos 31-10 on Monday Night Football. The guys discuss how the Chiefs completely imposed their will from the very first play, where Steve Spagnuolo set the tone with a double-corner blitz, leading to a quick sack and an interception off Bo Nix.

Matt and Tucker dive into Kenneth Walker's sensational performance, noting how he single-handedly outgained the entire Broncos offense. They unpack why Patrick Mahomes’ stat line didn’t need to be flashy, how the offensive line held up despite playing undrafted rookie Kahlil Benson, and why Travis Kelce’s slow-motion rumble almost became the greatest touchdown in NFL history.

On the defensive side, the guys highlight how young players like Peter Woods and R Mason Thomas stepped up in the rotation, suffocating Denver’s offense and leaving Bo Nix with nowhere to go. Matt and Tucker also react to Dan Le Batard’s comments on Troy Aikman’s broadcast superlatives, shut down salty fan complaints about officiating, and laugh at the absurdity of quarterback EPA rankings after Week 1. Finally, they wrap up with a short look ahead of the Chiefs’ upcoming matchup against the Colts and Daniel Jones.
