Ghislaine Maxwell And Her Third Push For Bail (10/25/25)
In February 2021, Maxwell made her third formal bid for pre-trial release, offering a significantly enhanced bail package and additional concessions aimed at reducing the court’s concerns about flight risk. Her lawyers proposed renouncing her British and French citizenships, pledging around US$22.5 million (plus forms of security) into a monitored account overseen by a retired U.S. federal judge and former U.S. Attorney, allowing only limited personal funds to remain for living and legal-defense expenses. She also offered to reside under strict conditions in New York City with armed guard supervision and electronic monitoring. . Despite the expanded offer, U.S. District Judge Alison J. Nathan rejected the motion, issuing her third denial on March 22, 2021. The judge concluded that the defendant still posed a serious flight risk given her extensive financial resources, foreign ties, past conduct, and the strength of the indictment. She wrote that the proposed renunciations of citizenship lacked sufficient clarity on their enforceability and did not alleviate concern that Maxwell could obtain delay or avoidance of U.S. custody. to contact me: [email protected]
