Israel Today: Ongoing War Report - September 30, 2026, 08 AM Eastern

Get the latest updates from Israel. This report covers the dramatic incident aboard a Flydubai flight diverted to Saudi Arabia after a suspected hijacking attempt, detailing passenger intervention and the political fallout including calls to halt airline flights. We also look at heightened regional tensions with Iran, including an explosion in Zahedan, warnings of escalating aggression, and economic sanctions impacting its aviation sector. Plus, a US Senate move to block a human rights report on Israel and a deeply offensive antisemitic comparison to the Holocaust. Key domestic political developments include the approval for potentially mobilizing 200,000 reservists and opposition efforts to control the Knesset agenda. The report also highlights the return to normalcy in northern Israel and a successful helicopter rescue of Israelis in Ethiopia.
