Israel Today: Ongoing War Report - September 16, 2026, 08 PM Eastern

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says Israel is confronting a global propaganda campaign but remains an "island of tolerance" in the Middle East, particularly for its Christian community. In regional security news, Saudi Arabia is urgently seeking allied assistance for its defenses as Houthi military capabilities rapidly advance. On the diplomatic front, the U.S. State Department has rejected Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's visa request. Domestically, a new poll indicates the Netanyahu-led bloc is slightly ahead but short of a parliamentary majority. An incident in Netanya involving an explosion and tear gas grenade is also being reported.
