Israel Assesses Iran Conflict Within Weeks; Officer Dies in Lebanon

Israeli defense officials are assessing that renewed fighting with Iran could begin within weeks, as the nation heightens its military readiness and considers offensive action. In regional developments, Iran-backed rebels claimed responsibility for blasts at Saudi Arabia's King Khalid International Airport. Closer to home, IDF Captain Eliav Haim Tzapalamus was killed and three soldiers were wounded in a Humvee rollover during an operation in southern Lebanon. In Gaza, the IDF reported killing Muhammad Muhsen Nimr Yazji, a Hamas Shati Battalion commander who held former Israeli hostages including Emily Damari and Romi Gonen. Domestically, former military secretary Avi Gil has alleged attempts to alter the official record of the October 7th timeline, while the Shin Bet has uncovered a terror cell of Israeli citizens in the Negev planning attacks. On the diplomatic front, Israel has been restored to Tier 1 status in the US State Department's Trafficking in Persons Report. We also cover an antisemitic hate crime in London and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz's reaffirmation of support for Israel's security and fight against antisemitism.
