Ward Wears Guardian Cap for Safety | Indianapolis Colts News

Veteran cornerback Charvarius Ward is donning a Guardian Cap this season to protect his brain after suffering three concussions in 2025 — including one during warmups that knocked him unconscious. Despite ongoing headaches and the stigma around wearing the bulky, unpopular gear, Ward’s decision is fueled by fear of another concussion and his commitment to long-term health. Signed to a big contract, he’s now walking a razor-thin line between love for the game and the physical toll it exacts — and if he takes another hit, he’s ready to retire for good.
