Kohberger Accused Anne Taylor of Hiding WHAT?!
Bryan Kohberger is serving four life sentences after pleading guilty to the Idaho student murders. He now says his former lawyers withheld information and persuaded him to confess to crimes he says he did not commit. The court has not accepted those allegations. His challenge names Anne Taylor, Elisa Massoth and Bicka Barlow. Kohberger claims they misrepresented death-row conditions and failed to fully explain evidence he considers favorable. A lawyer’s bad advice can matter in a challenge to a guilty plea, but he would need to show a legally meaningful failure and explain why it affected his decision. His sworn plea answers are evidence the state can point to in response. There is another obstacle. In July 2025, prosecutor Bill Thompson laid out what the state intended to show if the case went to trial. Investigators matched DNA from a knife sheath to Kohberger. Prosecutors described an online purchase of a Ka-Bar knife and sheath, a car appearing in surveillance and phone records placing his device in the broader area on multiple previous nights. Those cell connections alone did not place him inside the victims’ home. Raising claims about private legal advice may also lead the court to consider certain confidential exchanges, with the scope subject to legal limits. Judge Steven Hippler’s October 14 scheduling order vacated upcoming hearings. Prosecutors are seeking dismissal of the petition, and Kohberger has also pursued a request to remove Hippler.
